Love, Sweet Love

We are Jenn & Shannon Mormon, photographers and owners of Touch Of Honey Photography. Our love of photography is part of what brought us together and part of what continues to help us develop our relationship. We feature a documentary style aiming to capture all the love, all the emotion, all the pretty details, and all the celebration.

Our experience tells us that getting to know you and you getting to know us will help us capture your day in the best way possible. Keep on reading to learn a little more about us. We look forward to getting to know more about you!

JenN:

I still remember my first camera. It was a blue plastic film camera that I used to tote around the neighborhood around my neck. I was 6 years old. Most of the photos I took were of neighborhood cats, but I also remember staging photoshoots with my dolls and stuffed animals. I got my love of photography from my dad, who bought endless rolls of film and encouraged me to pack at least a dozen on every trip we went on. By my teenage years I had decided I wanted to study photojournalism. I took photography classes throughout high school and learned how to develop prints in a darkroom. I took photos of friends and family and at sporting events. As things tend to do, my plans changed and I went into teaching instead or majoring in photography, but I always kept my camera close at hand.

I grew up in California. I’ve always enjoyed hikes along the coast and among the big trees. I tend to like to get up close and find the tine details that wouldn’t immediately be noticed. I’m definitely an outdoor adventure kind of girl. I’m always ready to climb a hill, walk through a creek, or go off the beaten path (ideally not involving poison oak), especially if it helps us get that perfect photo!

Heading out on a fateful hike on the California Coast in which we both ended up with a horrible case of poison oak. Still a great day!

Shannon:

I was a military brat (it’s ok, we call ourselves brats). When I was a kid I wanted to be a marine biologist or a helicopter pilot, but instead spent nearly eight years in the Marines to include plenty of time in helicopters. I traveled so much and have seen so much, but sadly did not usually have a camera to document those memories. How cool would it have been if I had a photographer to follow me around all that time… I always had a desire to be a photographer and eventually studied photography and started a business doing some commercial and event photography as Kept In Time Photography.

Not long after getting into professional photography I met Jenn.

A Little More History of ‘us’

On our first date Shannon brought along his big cameras. We intended to have lunch, and if things went well we would take a little photo hike. Lunch was great and the hike was great and the conversation was even better. But honestly, very few photos were taken. Since then, we have been on many more adventures together and yes, we eventually started taking more photos.

For our wedding, we decided to elope to Maui (yes, we will travel to Maui to photograph your wedding, but there would be additional travel fees). We booked our venue and photographer well in advance. A few days before we were set to leave, some more life happened and Shannon was in a hit and run motorcycle accident that left him in the hospital for nine weeks. Determined, in love, and not willing to let an unfortunate event keep us from our matrimony, we arranged for medical transport to take us to City Hall where we wed. We had a wonderful photography team that was available on short notice to document our day.

We eventually made it to Hawaii and renewed our vows on the beach with the photographer we originally hired. While the beach and sun were nice, it was us being together that made the day so special and we were so happy to have it all documented for our memories and for our family and friends that were not there.

We entered our relationship each with children from previous marriages. We had four total children until 2015 when we welcomed our first son together. And in 2019 we have rounded off our family with our sixth child.
